6. Acer -Iconia B1
Acer has launched its Iconia B1 tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in India carrying a price tag of Rs. 7,999. The price, as well as the launch timeline, is in line with what we had reportedearlier this month before the tablet’s official launch.
The Acer Iconia B1 was unveiled at CES last week. It sports a 7-inch display with 1024×600 resolution and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor (MTK 8317T) alongside 512MB RAM and 8GB internal storage. It features a microSD card to expand the available storage by another 32GB. Connectivity options on the Acer Iconia B1 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro-USB. A 0.3-megapixel front camera is thrown-in for good measure.
Announcing the launch, Mr. S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India, said, “The tablet PC market in India has been one of the fastest growing segments and has potential to grow even further in 2013. As a global leader, we are committed to introducing devices that follow high standards of quality and reliability. The Iconia B1 is a product that is geared to exceed consumer expectation while guaranteeing a wholesome experience.”
While the 512 RAM does seem slightly underwhelming, at the price point of Rs. 7,999 a branded tablet running Jelly Bean seems like a pretty decent deal. We can’t wait to see how the tablet performs in the real world – stay tuned for a detailed review, which should be up within the next few days.
